Shi fu

We sat down
took out our brushes
dipped into some paint
slid across the canvas

Yours was like a green field
With dandelions & mushrooms
With the azure sky as their shield
See the flowers bloom

Mine was a spat of dirt
Covered in more dirt
& nothing else but dirt
But still you complimented me

There a mirror stood before me
A hideous-looking creature
No one ever in history as ugly
Seemed like no one would go near her

But there you stood
With your back facing the mirror
Wished only if I could
To be just like her

But I'm stuck, I'm trapped
In this hideousness of which I never chose
Then again, be inapt
If I was beautiful

Admit it,
I'm not good enough
I never once was,
& probably never will be

I'd rather take my hat off
Than spring up this issue
Acknowledge I'm far-off,
Then call you my 'Shi fu'.

A glance

A glance
that's all I can take
A single chance
To avoid that heartache

What have I done?
What could I do?
What I've done
What I drew..

A single thread
Suspended vertically in air
Its neck surrounded by knives
A crocodile's mouth at the lower end

Have I narrowed its destiny?
Have I allowed destiny to define it?
Or did I give a chance for it to define its own destiny
But then again, its just a thread..

It knows nothing
A mere thread
That falls in air
Wouldn't know where it'd land

Only wish I could take
a second glance
But a single chance
was all I could take

A glance
I took
That chance
now gone.
