Still

Tie my hands to my back
I've cut myself enough slack
It's time to take a deep breath
Hold it in, then count to ten

Close those eyes that distract
They pull me away from what's real
Eyes that judge what their vision covers
Yet it's me, what I see, they steal

Tie and bind them to my back
Close those eyes, skills I lack
Chew on words in the air
Let it sink beneath all that hair

For I rest not till dawn
I rest not till my heart is gone
Let the hands run around the clock
While I stay awake and still as a rock

Cold, warm, I can't decide
Rough, gentle, I hope you don't mind
If I stayed for awhile, a little longer,
To be by your side

I can't tear my gaze from your eyes
There's something you remind me of deep inside
A secret bond, our lives intertwined
That day when you sat by my side

Wishing I could tear down these walls
I wish I would dare to make that phone call
I'm sure she'll notice,
